Miller Blanks Phoenix and Super Bowl
The Buffalo Sabres defeated the Phoenix Coyotes by a score of 2-0 last night. Ryan Miller played superb, stopping all 28 shots he faced for his 24th win of the season, and 4th shutout. Both goals were scored in the second period, separated by about 4 minutes. Tim Connolly continued his hot streak by scoring in a scrum in front of the net in which the puck just squirted out from Ilya Bryzgalov’s pads and onto the stick of number 19 who buried it. It was Connolly’s 9th goal of the season and 7th since his return. Just a few minutes later, Daniel Paille ended his goal scoring drought as he one timed a beautiful pass from Derek Roy. Roy made a nice move coming into the zone and got knocked down, but he was still able to make the pass across to Paille just as he was falling. The Coyotes were 0 for 7 on the power play last night as their losing streak now sits at 3. Patrick Kaleta made his first start since being injured in a game against Los Angeles a few weeks ago. The Sabres next game is against Anaheim tomorrow night. It will be the final game of this roadtrip in which they have gone 3-2 thus far.
The Super Bowl is tonight, and even though the Buffalo Bills failed to make it yet again this year, I always enjoy watching the game. I’ve got my super bowl squares all set up and ready to go, we got the food, the drinks, a place to part, a nice big TV, so it is sure to be a good day. I’ll be sporting my throwback Marshawn Lynch jersey today while my roomate will be wearing his Browns jersey. Personally, I would like to see the Cardinals win today, they are a team that has never won it, and I have never really cared for the Steelers. If Arizona’s defense plays their best and Kurt Warner doesn’t have one of those games where he throws 3 interceptions, I think they will win regardless of how well the Steelers play. I think the Cardinals have the better team when they are at their best, but they have shown all year that they don’t always bring that A-game. Enjoy the day everyone.
