Sabres Finish Road Trip 3-3

Last night the Buffalo Sabres were defeated by Anaheim by a score of 3-2.  A game that could best be summed up as gritty and physical saw the Sabres come close to coming back last night but fail to tie it up.  The Sabres had goals by 2 unlikely fellows, Patrick Kaleta and Craig Rivet.  Rivet also racked up the penalty minutes last night, getting into 2 fights and accumulating 12 minutes in penalties.  The Ducks were 2-3 on the powerplay last night despite the Sabres being ranked 3rd in the league in penalty killing.  Patrick Lalime was in net and was victim of a few bad bounces that wound up in the back of the net.  I was happier with Lalime’s play last night, he played a pretty good game, he just didn’t catch any breaks.  Buffalo had 4 inexperienced defensemen out there last night with Rivet and Lydman being the only 2 players that have a long history of playing time.  Buffalo will play it’s next game tomorrow night against the rival Leafs at home.  This will be the Sabres first home game since January 17th when they defeated the Hurricanes.  The Sabres finished their road trip with a 3-3 record and now look to get a strong finish to the season.
